Ellen's Images is a source of imagery for graphic designers and creators, presented in an easy-to-navigate website, without the obstacles that often accompany buying of photographs: Legal obstacles, like questionnaires over use; Technical obstacles, like finding the Buy-button or getting someone on the phone–easily; Practical obstacles, like being presented with a visually complicated website of small gray text-links, that reflect the interests of the photographer rather than yours. Ellen's Images has more flexible and competitive pricing, such as prices for smaller collections, and simpler pricing–one price per image. Products include photography, illustration, symbols, background texture imagery and painting.

Ellen Hamilton

My first camera was a little brown boxy thing, handed down to me by my neighbor, Jessica. We'd visit Grandma in Washington DC, and I took pictures of a tiny capitol building, with even tinier people down in front. I didn't know about wide angle lenses.

Later we moved to Germany and would take walks around the German countryside. I took pictures of trees, and made photo albums of them. (After the walk we always had coffee and cake.)

I studied art at VCU in Richmond, Virginia, where I got my bachelor's degree. My first job after school was at Kwik Kopy Printing, running the color copier. There I met graphic designers, who assured me I had to go back to school to be a graphic designer. They were right, and I did, earning a two-year associates degree in graphic design (took 5 years). Part of that program was photography. Using my roommate's manual Olympus OM1, I experimented with the tripod, night photography, portraits and limited light situations. But I had no money for a long time, and later I realized that money is an important factor in being a photographer!

Lately I've gotten into digital photography, where my knowledge of photoshop has been helpful. Now I use both traditional and digital cameras - it all gets digitized eventually. I love documenting the flowers in my garden, and capturing seasonal changes.

Steven Halperson

Steven has been a part of Tisara Photography, Inc. in Alexandria, Virginia since 1988, offering portraiture and event photography.

Steven's education is in photography, design and fine art. Steven is well known for his gentle approach to photographing people and the excellent quality of his wedding photography. Less well known is his macro photography and his experiments with cross processing. He manipulates the emulsion of his photographs by hand to add texture and an ethereal quality. His favorite time to shoot is at dusk, when he captures the moment when the sky fades to a darker blue. Many of his images are from in and around Alexandria. His present objective is to find that lasting definitive image.
